A day at the Races

29th June 2018

On Thursday 28th June, Partridge Class spent an afternoon at the races.  This was the final event in the Race to Schools project and was an exciting (and hot!) visit.  This year was the largest group of schools who took part and there were 209 children from local schools at the July Course.

Everyone dressed up in real jockey silks for a group photograph and then we had time to use our junior race cards to choose which horse we thought would win the first race.  We went to the parade ring to see the horses but had to be very quiet as it was the first time that most of the horses had ever run a race and they were a bit nervous.  We watched the race and - of course- my choice came last!

We also tried out an Equiciser (hard work in the heat!) and watched two more races before having a quick play in the adventure playground.  Then it was time to come back to school.

Well done Partridge Class - a busy but fun afternoon.
