Article 2 (no discrimination): The Convention applies to every child, whatever their background, ethnicity, sex, religion etc.

Article 19 (protection from violence): Governments must protect children from bad treatment by anyone who looks after them

Article 37 (children in detention): No child should be tortured, imprisoned unfairly or treated in a cruel or inhuman way.

Article 38 (protection in war): No child under 15 should join the army and children should be protected in war.

full. It must encourage the child’s
respect for human rights, as well as
respect for their parents, their own
and other cultures, and the
environment.
